People First!

In reading Horton's Chapters 1-5, my concerns were addressed. As educators trying to integrate technology, we must think of the abilities and interests of our learner audience. It seems that many of us are so enamored with the technology, that we sometimes forget what we are trying to accomplish.

Once we assess out audience, we can carefully choose the appropriate tools and hardware, etc.

Even more important is to create the content that needs to be addressed and the learning goals for the unit. Once you have your objectives in place, the sky's the limit to using creative and motivating tools. Driving the curriculum to fit the technology is using technoloy for technology's sake. It's like getting in the car just to drive with no destination in mind. It might be fun once in a while but shouldn't be the basis for your transportation.
